Abusers use this as a way to gain power over another person and excuse their own behaviour because the abuse they caused “didn’t happen.”Īt the very core of gaslighting are power and control. It makes them question every memory that they have about certain events and traumas. ![]() Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse that makes survivors feel like their memories and experiences were made up and that their feelings aren’t real.
